National Summit 2022

July 11-14 / In Person + Virtual Events

Frequently Asked Questions

Given these unprecedented times and Uncharted Learning’s commitment to the health and safety of our attendees, speakers, and staff, the National Summit will provide a mix of both virtual and in person events for the summer of 2022.  We recognize the constraints of a blended classroom, from both the learner and teacher perspective, so we offer choices of virtual or in-person events (not blended).

Check out the Where to Stay Page

Where can I PARK?

HERE is a Find Us form from Convene, which includes addresses for nearby parking garages. SpotHero, which allows you to search all of the parking options nearby and select the best option for you, is also recommended.

I’m coming in person, what should I wear?

We are going for business casual. This means that t-shirts and jeans are just as acceptable as polos and dresses. Ties are not required.

Registration

How can I convince my school to sponsor my attendance?

I already get emails from Uncharted Email. Do I still need to register separately for the virtual conference?

Yes, you need to register to let us know that you will be attending. If you have not registered, now is the time!

Are there additional fees to register for Summit?

No additional registration fees are required for Summit. Participation is included in your school's membership and promise for professional development training. This training continues throughout the school year through program enhancements (e.g., Distance Learning), virtual meetups, collaboration in a private online community, and one to one consultations.

Training

Are the dates and times of Training and the National Summit the same?

New members have training sessions two weeks before the National Summit event with all  members. Training participants are expected to attend from start to finish each day.

  • Virtual Training is June 28, 29, and 30.
  • Bootcamp Trainings are July 11, 12, and 13.
  • Summit is July 13 and 14.
  • Virtual options for NEW INC and mxINC members are July 25, 26, 27, and 28.

The National Summit will be IN PERSON. Overall, members can customize their experiences based on their own availability during these days. More details on the specific session schedule will be forthcoming.

What should I expect for training?

We have a robust curriculum planned for all involved members: teachers, administrators, and community champions. Training participants are expected to attend from start to finish each day of their training.

I am a new teacher. I am nervous about training - what can I expect?

There will be some required prep work before the in person training.  This process has proven to be successful, and prepares you to hit the ground running at in person bootcamp. Throughout your first year of teaching, there will be optional extended training sessions to help you just in time for teaching content.  You will receive additional information about your training bootcamp and how to prepare through email.

Will I receive Continuing Professional Development Unit (CPDU) credits for attending Summit?

Yes, Uncharted Learning will continue to provide Continuing Professional Development Unit (CPDU) credits for those who have completed the training and have verified attendance.

Speakers

I was asked to present. How do I prepare?

We appreciate your willingness to share with the Uncharted Learning community! We will be in contact directly with each presenter to let you know about preparation.

Am I presenting live or recording in advance?

Yes! The current plan is for an in person event in Chicago.

National Pitch

Will National Pitch be virtual or in person?

National Pitch will be virtual, but also in person! All you need to know about submission requirements and the selection process will be shared this spring.  Please encourage your students to submit! There will be travel sponsorship available to students in need.

What will be the format of the National Pitch Event?

The National Pitch will be held in person and live streamed virtually and synchronously so that both live and online audiences can tune in and to see student pitches.

May I submit any team to compete at National Pitch, or only winning teams?

ANY team is eligible to compete at National Final Pitch.  In fact, some schools choose NOT to submit their school's first place team so that more teams have a chance at funding.

Where can I get some detail about Pitch?

Teacher Recognition

Teacher recognition typically happens during the summit. Will recognition still take place?

Yes! Nothing will stop us from giving you the applause you deserve! Make sure you have submitted your activity HERE.
